PREPARATION:

  • Clean/degrease the surface, pressure wash if needed, ensuring that all debris and loose material is removed from the area of application. Dry the entire surface thoroughly.
    • If any rust is present, remove it, then apply a rust preventative before priming.
  • Sand the surface area with 180 grit sandpaper.
    • For flexible plastics (TPO, EDPM & PP), you can use 180-320 grit.
  • Clean/degrease the area again to remove any particulates from sanding.
  • Prime the area according to the surface material type:
    • Bare Metal/Aluminum: Apply a DTM primer.
    • Galvanized: Apply a self-etching primer.
    • Rigid Plastic/Fiberglass: No primer or adhesion promoter needed.
    • Flexible Plastic: Apply a layer of adhesion promoter.
    • Wood: No primer needed, wood must be fully dry with no stains.
    • OEM Coats: No primer needed.
  • Scuff sand the primed area with 180 grit, and clear the area of any debris produced from the scuff sand.

APPLICATION:

  • Mix all solutions/activators/tints/additives according to the specifications listed per manufacturer instructions.
  • Attach the spray gun to the bottle containing the bedliner. Most of our kits come with a spray gun included.
    • Recommended air pressure ranges from 40-60 PSI.
  • We highly recommend doing a test spray on a separate test panel to ensure accurate pressure and spraying motion before moving to the application area!
  • Start spraying the first coat in an even sweeping motion to obtain the correct texture and coverage.
    • Recommended spraying temperature is about 68℉-70℉.
    • Flash times between coats can vary between kits/brands, but normally ranges anywhere between 15 minutes - 1 hour. Please refer to manufacturer instructions for your specific kit when applying.
